The planet shakes with the sound of the whining engines! Imperial Knights stomping the battlefield! I had this project a while back. Have always wanted to mess with the 40k Imperial Knights when it was souped in everyone’s 40k army list.
Client wanted the Imperial Knights as House Raven. I followed the colour scheme from the Imperial Knights Codex. The Imperial Knights were painted in small batch of sub assembly. If they were all assembled, painting some of the details and areas would be difficult to reach. I have seen videos of the Imperial Knights being painted in a fully assembled stage, which had the fine details not painted at all, and this is not what I wanted to achieve. The sub asssembly were separate into the arms, the top cover and all the legs and arms guard. The red colour scheme were mainly done with airbrush, and thereafter painting the details. The body construct of the Imperial Knight was airbrushed in vallejo Gunmetal and followed by washes and dry brushing. The details were then picked out with detailed painting.
I painted the 2 variants of the Imperial Knights, The Knight Castellan and The Knight Valiant. The difference were the weapons loadout. It was a fun experience painting the Imperial Knights, especially when its done, its looked so amazing, which really tempted me hard… haha!
