Hear me roar! Finally I got started on my own miniatures from A Song of Ice and Fire, Lannister. I have been actually playing the game for quite a while already. The unique balanced game system rules, rank and files army and the true scale miniatures, is what’s that captured me. And of course, armour and knights being my obsession, and with the Songs Ice and Fire Lannister army closely resembling my old Warhammer Fantasy Empire army, those were the days…
Anyway, the first unit for the Songs of Ice and Fire Lannister army I got started on, is the Lannister Guardsmen. I wanted to follow the red colour tones for the Lannister from the Games of Throne show. So after much searching and watching clips of the Games of Throne featuring the Lannister army show from youtube, I decided that, though Lannister uniform is of a red colour theme, I decided to go for a darker tone of red closely resembling the Lannister from the Games of Throne show.
The red colours I used are from Monument paints Pro Acryl range. Based with Pro Acryl Burnt Red, washed with Citadel Nuln oil, then highlighted with Pro Acryl Pale Pink and Pyrrole Red. The Pro Acryl Burnt Red is now one of my favourite red, haha. The tones really gives a dark feel very much close to the Lannister army from the Games of Throne show.
For basing, I did not go with the usual way of white glue and sand. I used Vallejo White Pumice on each of the miniatures and on the tray as well. Based black and painted with Citadel Rhinox Hide, and dry brush with Vallejo Heavy Brown, and followed by white.
Now, my Guardsmen are ready! Like they say, painted unit fights better, haha! Calvary next! Cheers!
