I am coming for your soul! Yes, I finally completed by Idoneth Deepkin Isharann Soulrender in time for a local painting event, Megacon 2019. As you might have read in my earlier post, Idoneth Deepkin Isharann Soulrender was planned for the submission for Games Workshop Evershcosen competition. However as I was working on it, it sort of evolved into a diorama. I decided to shelf it and enter it for a local contest and the alternative choice for the Everchosen was Lotann.
The inspiration behind Idoneth Deepkin Isharann Soulrender was from the Idoneth Deepkin fluff. I wanted to show a moment that Isharann Soulrender succeeded in capturing his victim and harvesting the soul.
The base where Idoneth Deepkin Isharann Soulrender stands was build from blue foam. It is then covered over with milliput 2 part epoxy and sculpted to the desired design. The daemonette was converted from the Wrath and Rapture daemonette sprue. Isharann Soulrender’s talúnhook was converted with green stuff and wrapped around the daemonette’s neck. I added a subtle texture on his talúnhook using a stipping method with plastic glue. The soul was created with Golden leveling gel. I casted a mould using Instant Mould with another daemonette. Thereafter I poured the leveling gel onto it.
As for painting it, I followed the same consistent style as Idoneth Deepkin Lotann. The long coat of Isharann Soulrender I added some soul looking patterns using AK-interactive weathering pencil. The base rock was touched up further with some moss and algae from AK-interactive. The soul was transparent when removed from the mould. After assembling it to the miniature, I water it lightly with very diluted green colour.
I was pretty happy with the overall effect for Idoneth Deepkin Isharann Soulrender. Though the soul effect I felt that it could be better explored with another method and material. For now, I am pleased with it, until the next exploration!
With souls to capture, Idoneth Deepkin Isharann Soulrender managed to get a Creative Award from the Megacon 2019 event with the prize of a Airfix model kit!
