Marvel movies and collectables are in much hype these recent months. While browsing the toy department to see what’s the latest toys one of those bored days (ha ha), I came upon a Hasbro 6.5″ Ironman LXXXV Legend action figure. The paint job was basically just a typical factory paint job, plain and flat. An idea struck me, I decided to repaint the Ironman Mark LXXXV as my new project.
I did not intend to strip any of the paint off. Started with sandpaper to sand off the factory varnish. After that I prime it with Mr Hobby Mr Primer 1500 grey. Once its dried, I airbrushed the whole figure a dark shade mixture of MIG Metal metallic red and Vallejo Negro Black. Thereafter, its shaded with the MIG Metal Metallic Red and highlighted with a mix of MIG Metallic Red and MIG Metallic Silver. The panel and gaps are then panel lined with Citadel gloss wash. The gold and silver region were hand painted and shaded with Vallejo Airbush Metallic Gold and MIG Metallic silver respectively.
Once all the details are done, it coated in with a coat of vallejo gloss varnish for greater protection. Though its varnished, the Ironman is still not really playable, as harsh movement will still scratch the paint job off. I guess for now, having Ironman in this pose in its new metallic look is more than good enough!
