Cavalry! Charge! Lannister Knights of the Casterly Rock all done! I must they looked really magnificent when painted. I have always been a fan of Knights. I still recall my first box of A Song of Ice and Fire miniatures wasn’t the starter set. I bought the Knights of the Casterly Rock first. After that, I bought another box of Knights of the Casterly Rock. Knights, Knights, my favourite. Finally, then I bought the Lannister Stark Starter Set, which I knew I wanted to build a duo Knights list for the game already!
Painting the Lannister Knights of the Casterly Rock was fun and it was a fulfillment for my Knights craving. Been a long time for Knights, since Warhammer Fantasy Empire and Bretonnia days. I painted with the same colour scheme and as per the Lannister Guardmen I did earlier, which is of a darker tone of red feel. The Knight’s horses caparison I decide to just outline gold trimming around the edges to enhanced the caparison feel. I did consider painting motif and design on the caparison at first, but scrape the idea, as I felt its was too much work, as they are just troop level Knights. Haha.
While painting the Knights, I noticed that there were few moulding defects that I probably will fix later. 2 of the Knights of the Casterly Rock had their sword hilt miscast. I think I will probably fixed that with some sculpt. Another thing, which I don’t agree is the Knight with the banner, his hoist end is just an orb design, instead of a sharp lance like the rest of the Knights. Imagine doing a charge, and your hoist end is just an orb design. I had an idea to fix that. Probably will fix it together with the hilt issue. Stay tuned for the post on that.
Meanwhile, one unit of Lannister Knights of the Casterly Rock done, another unit to go. Think I come back to the another unit of Knights later, and get ready for Mountain men. Cheers!
