Let’s glow into the magical world of one of my favorite personal projects: Malifaux miniatures, Beware The Lights, from Wyrd Games! This special edition set, a rotten harvest special edition, has been a favourite part of my collection for quite some time.
First up on my painting journey was the Oberling, a standout piece that I couldn’t resist entering into both a local painting gathering event in 2023 and Wyrd Games’ online painting contest Rotten Harvest in 2021. Looking at the dates for the contests, time really flies, its already been 3 years since I painted the Malifaux Oberling. And to think that I totally forgotten all about posting it. But you know me, with the Oberling standing on its own, I couldn’t stop there. I just had to add my own creative touch!
With a mix of terrain bits from my 40k stash and some crafty scratch-building, I transformed the Malifaux Oberling into a true masterpiece with some terrain pieces. The street lamp was added with my Warhammer 40k bitz and the posters on the street lamp were spruced up with a little greenstuff magic.
Painting this spectral beauty was an absolute delight! I aimed to capture that eerie green ghost vibe from the box art while experimenting with captivating object source lighting effects. The result? A dazzlingly green Oberling that truly shines!
Sure, the online contest critics wanted more contrast, but every brushstroke was a learning experience. And guess what? I’ve got the rest of the miniatures from the box Malifaux miniatures, Beware The Lights, painted up too—stay tuned for more! Cheers, and let the painting adventures continue!
